"Why so serious?" There was a time where we heard people repeat that phrase from 2008's The Dark Knight over and over again, as Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker was nothing short of iconic. And since the Batman villain made his live-action debut back in the 1966 Batman series, the clown prince of crime has had plenty of memorable quotes, many of which feel vaguely inspirational and motivational.

That got us thinking, since the Joker movie is arriving in theaters on Friday, October 4, let's take a look at some famous--and not so famous--Joker quotes from the various movies he's appeared in and give it the motivational poster treatment. That means putting it on a black frame with a picture from nature in the middle, so you can hang it on your wall, look at it, and be inspired to be a better person.

We grabbed 12 quotes from various movies, TV shows, and video games that the villainous Joker has appeared in and gave it said treatment. Sometimes, it worked. Other times, it was silly and ridiculous. There are even a few quotes from the upcoming Joker movie as well, with phrases taken from the trailers.

In his review of Joker, GameSpot's Mike Rougeau said, "Joker wears its influences on its maroon sleeves, but it also carves its own gashes through the blood-soaked landscape of contemporary comic book movies, offering something that, despite teetering on the shoulders of 80 years of history, is wonderfully fresh, dangerously exciting, undeniably entertaining, and rock-solid in its artistry. It might make you uncomfortable, and it will no doubt stay with you long after the curtains close; great movies often do."

Aside from the review, GameSpot also spoke to director Tod Phillips about the possibility of a Joker sequel. Also, because of the nature of the movie, Warner Bros. recently released a statement about the violence in the film saying, "Make no mistake: neither the fictional character Joker, nor the film, is an endorsement of real-world violence of any kind. It is not the intention of the film, the filmmakers or the studio to hold this character up as a hero."
